Hidy Ho friends! Welcome to the month of July. Now that the 4th of July is over and cleaned up, I stood on my front porch this morning thinking, now what? I have spent 3 months building my front porch so how do I decorate now? Join me as we consider some July possibilities for after the fireworks and the clean up.
My first thought: Christmas in July
Hear me out- I know several craft stores are already putting out holiday decorations; however, Christmas and Hanukkah are 6 short months away. If retailers are already thinking about the holidays, then for our own sanity, we should start considering the holidays, too. It did help that I got a phone call from my sister telling me her family will most likely be coming into town, so between my sister and her family along with my youngest, her husband and Grand Dog coming home, I MUST start planning now- IN JULY! If I don’t, I will not have any sanity come December, so Christmas in July, like Santa is REAL.
Planning Ahead- The key to Christmas in July
Why don’t you start planning some Christmas in July with me so we can stay sane together? To get you started, check out my friend, Kirsten from Sweet Tea and Saving Grace. Kirsten’s binder system and printables are a perfect start for our planning.
Week 2: Take Inventory
Week 3- Gift Planning
This year, I plan to create a good amount of gifts. One of those creations includes these cute garden flags.
Week 4- Decor
Over the next few months, I will be adding a few thoughts and ideas for planning Christmas in July, along with some more printables to help with our planning and sanity.
Back to School in July?
Trust me- this teacher DOES NOT want to hear these words; however, when I came home from vacation, a Vera Bradley Back to School Catalog was waiting in my mailbox. You will see school supplies start making an appearance in the next 2 weeks so we will chat about school supplies and what supplies your child REALLY needs to be successful. This article covers the basics; however, I will cover several other intentional ideas to make this year’s Back to School a breeze. Don’t be a dunce when it comes to planning for Back to School and school supplies
If it’s Back to School, then Fall is not far behind
Just last month I ran into my local craft store to purchase some yarn and found all things Fall starting to make an appearance. Last year at this time, I was helping my daughter plan a Fall wedding, so I was ever so thankful the stores were really thinking ahead. It’s hot; however, just thinking about pumpkins and hot chocolate makes me excited for cooler weather. Along with Holiday planning and back to school, let’s start crafting intentionally. Let’s put a plan in place to decorate the front porch for a 3 month span, much like my May through July Patriotic months.
But, It’s July 5th, What special day do I plan to celebrate?
While I am waiting to implement my front porch Fall, 3 month intentional decorating plan, I will be honoring our first responders. Last year, there were numerous police and firefighters killed in the line of duty. Here in the Dallas area, we had 5 officers killed in one day in the line of duty. I am eternally grateful for those who serve our country in ANY way. So, I will clear my front porch and hang a simple “Back the Blue” wreath to honor our local first responders.
