Graduation Season is upon us and it’s a very special time to celebrate a huge accomplishment. Every day, my mailbox is full of invitations to graduation ceremonies. I love, love, love getting all these cards of accomplishment. I love having the cards on my refrigerator to serve as a reminder of getting a graduation card to acknowledge the accomplishment; however, after the graduation ceremony, what do I do with these expensive invitations? They can’t stay on my refrigerator forever!!
Need a graduation card to acknowledge the accomplishment?
I really hate throwing things away, even if it’s going into the recycle can. I really feel super bad when I throw away a card or announcement that I know quite a bit of money was spent to purchase. (Think wedding invitations, graduation invitations- you get the idea!) What if there was a way to recycle the invitation into a custom graduation card? Well, my friends, here is an intentional plan for all those nice, expensive invitations. Yes! You don’t have to feel guilty any more!

What you will need to create your personalized graduation card:
- Cardstock- coordinating with your invitation
- Ink and stickers (optional)
5 Simple Steps for a Personalized Graduation Card
Step 1: Cut out the parts you think you might use to create a card.
I wasn’t sure what exactly I wanted to use; so, I cut out the school seal and the school name.
Step 2: Find color coordinated paper.
For graduations, use school colors. For a wedding or shower, use the wedding colors. Decide which color will be the card color and cut it into an 8 x 12 piece. Fold at the center.
Step 3: Mount the piece or pieces you cut out on complementary paper and attach to the front of the card.
I love, love, love using ribbon on my cards, so you could choose to use ribbon, or leave it off for a masculine look.
Step 4: Mount coordinating colors to create a mat.
Adhere to the inside of the card. You could use a rubber stamp sentiment such as “Congratulations” or you could write a personal note to the graduate or happy couple.
Step 5: The envelope!
I purchase my envelopes at Walmart and they come in plain white or cream color. You can also purchase at Amazon. If you don’t want a plain white envelope, you can jazz it up with ink on the edges or a sticker.
That’s it! Just 5 simple steps to create a personalized graduation card for your special graduate! Simple, Cheap and Easy for those on a budget, but an oh so special graduation card for your graduate to remember their great accomplishment.
