The Super Bowl is over so now what? It’s time to strap into your car and “Start Your Engines” because it’s time for the Daytona 500. Happy Daytona Day is a REAL holiday for race fans! Are you having a Daytona 500 watch party? Need some simple decorating ideas? Here are some great Daytona 500 party decorations you can create before the drop of the green flag.
Recycled Items for Your Daytona 500 Party Decorations
When I throw a party, I try to keep to a budget. The Dollar Store is always helpful for party supplies. I found some amazing plastic silverware at The Dollar Tree. Even though the silverware is inexpensive (not cheap!), it looks great and holds up well. Because the silverware looks great it deserved a great decorative container so it stands out on the table.
What could I use to create a container for this amazing, inexpensive silverware? I chose to recycle the cans from the green beans and bacon I made as a food choice. This is so simple and effective- just empty the cans, wash them out, and wrap ribbon around them. How simple is that? Check out the results.
Speaking of Silverware, you might want to create some really cool, beautiful beaded silverware for serving pieces or as your dedicated race day silverware.
No Sew Daytona 500 Party Pennant Flags
What’s a race party without party pennant flags? I love pennant flags, but because I have high ceilings, it’s difficult to hang them for a party; however, I did the next best thing: DIY party pennant flags for my fireplace mantle. The idea came from this pin back in October. I loved the idea of pennants on my mantle, but these pennants were Halloween and I needed racing themed pennants. The green flag is about to drop so there was no time to sew. I purchased a square, 45 x 45 inch piece of racing themed fabric. Then, folded the fabric into a triangle and ironed all the fold lines. Simple, easy, and Oh so Cool!!
Easy, No Sew Custom Table Clothes or Runners
Let’s think about your race party tables. Where in the world can you find table table cloths or table runners for a racing party? Well, you could go to Party City and get a paper or plastic one you could trash OR you could quickly make your own, which can be used year after year. All it takes is some race fabric and about an hour of your time.
The fabric checkered flag table cloth is way better than a paper one from a party store. I have created several other table cloths/runners for my Daytona 500 party decorations. Check out them out in the Ultimate Daytona 500 Party for a Happy Daytona Day post.
